Robotic Polishing
Robotic Polishing at Yudi Optics
Building upon traditional polishing techniques, CNC polishing, and ion beam polishing, Yudi has pioneered robotic polishing technology. This advancement enhances our capability in processing complex optical components, providing polishing services for components with a maximum diameter of 1800 mm. Our intelligent robotic polishing machines, featuring the ABB IRB 2600 six-axis linkage robotic arm and cutting-edge algorithms, represent the forefront of precision optical manufacturing.
With these robotic systems, we achieve automated and high-precision polishing, meeting the increasing demand for high-performance lenses and mirrors in industrial and scientific applications. The ABB IRB 2600, in combination with advanced algorithms, allows for flexible adjustments in the tool’s contact geometry, dwell time, and pressure. These robots address crucial challenges in surface aspheric manufacturing by precisely controlling the tool’s contact geometry and motion on the aspheric surface, correcting surface errors.
The intelligent robots excel in deterministic polishing, covering a range of optical components, including large-aperture planes, spherical surfaces, aspherical surfaces, off-axis aspherical surfaces, and free-form surfaces. The system autonomously conducts iterative processes of continuous measurement, calculation, and polishing operations, overseen by engineers. This ensures prompt correction of any planning input errors, guaranteeing the final product perfectly aligns with optical design specifications. Yudi’s robotic polishing technology marks a significant stride in achieving unprecedented precision in optical manufacturing.
