Polishing
Peerless Polishing By Yudi
As a leading provider of comprehensive optical solutions, Yudi caters to the diverse optical component needs across various industries. The challenge lies in addressing processing requirements for different base materials, device types, and precision levels. Yudi has successfully navigated this challenge by leveraging four distinct polishing techniques: traditional polishing, CNC polishing, IBF polishing, and robotic polishing. Each technique offers unique advantages—CNC polishing excels in automated mass production, traditional polishing provides flexibility for various shapes, and ion beam polishing ensures high precision for specialized applications. Robotic polishing combines these advantages, allowing batch processing of intricate shapes with precision. At Yudi, we adeptly combine these techniques to craft nanometer-precision, complex optical components and assemblies. Our approach may also involve a strategic blend of grinding and polishing processes to progressively enhance substrate surface smoothness and flatness. Experience tailored excellence with Yudi’s cutting-edge optical solutions.
Various Polishing Methods, Diverse Optic Needs
Conventional Polishing
Yudi Optics uses asphalt technology for high-precision spherical and flat polishing of optical crystals, optical glass, and fused quartz. “Conventional Pitch Polishing” is a traditional polishing technique in optical processing, usually using a material called “pitch” as a grinding tool. This method is also known as “pitch polishing”. During the polishing process, abrasive material (usually abrasive fluid or abrasive particles) is added to the pitch surface. These particles roll over the pitch surface, grinding the workpiece surface at the same time. This process provides excellent surface shape and surface quality. We currently have a large range of continuous single-sided polishing rings available in different sizes to accommodate the optical polishing of substrates from 3mm to 1000mm.
CNC Polishing
Leveraging CNC polishing technology, Yudi excels in rapid mass production while seamlessly integrating intricate designs, superior precision, and cost-effectiveness.It has been the most widely used in common optic production.
IBF Polishing
With non-contact Ion Beam polishing technology, Yudi can polish custom optics up to thousands of millimeters in diameter with high precision, low error, and no subsurface or edge defects. We reliably deliver high-end surface quality with nanoscale precision.
Robotic Polishing
Yudi leads the trend of advanced technology and independently develops robot polishing technology. The ultra-precision polishing machine (IRP) is equipped with an intelligent system to automatically achieve high-precision polishing, significantly improving efficiency and achieving sub-micron-level surface accuracy for manufacturing more complex optical components.
MRF Polishing
Yudi Optics utilizes Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF) for ultra-precision optical polishing, achieving nanometer-level smoothness and high-precision surface shapes. This state-of-the-art technology uses a computer-controlled polishing fluid with magnetic particles, enabling the flexible, stress-free polishing of complex optical components. MRF is suitable for materials like quartz, BK7, and sapphire, and can handle various shapes, including spherical and free-form. Yudi’s MRF polishing enhances the quality and efficiency of optical processing, making it ideal for aerospace, defense, and other high-end applications.
